About the Church of the Redeemer

Worship after church

Located in the heart of downtown Sarasota (directions and map), the Church of the Redeemer has been a part of the Sarasota community for over 100 years, and is the mother parish of all the other Episcopal churches in Sarasota.  Our 1,800-member parish is noted for the beauty of its liturgy, its excellent music program, its ministry to families, and its outstanding work in missions and outreach.

We are a eucharistically-centered Christian community, seeking to serve God by preaching the Gospel, teaching the faith, administering the sacraments, and making disciples of our Lord Jesus Christ. We are guided in all we do by our parish mission statement:

"To build up the Body of Christ by Word and Sacrament, equipping the people of God for the work of ministry, that Jesus Christ may be known, loved, worshipped, and obeyed in our homes and parish, community and diocese, and throughout the world."

The Church of the Redeemer, an American Anglican Council (AAC) member parish, is part of the Diocese of Southwest Florida, in the Episcopal Church in the United States, and is a member of the worldwide Anglican Communion, and the Compass Rose Society.
