The Rev. John Hamilton Gillespie Legacy Society

Honoring the Past and Planning for the Future:

The Rev. J. Hamilton Gillespie Legacy Society

“For all things come from thee, and of thy own have we given thee” (I Chronicles 29:14).

In the early days, Colonel J. Hamilton Gillespie, who also served as Sarasota’s first mayor before being ordained a deacon, encouraged the earliest generations of Episcopalians in Sarasota to make financial sacrifices to secure the then young parish’s future. Throughout our history, faithful men and women have heard Gillespie’s call, making provision for the mission of the parish by remembering Redeemer in their estate plans.

Recognizing their extraordinary commitment to the mission of Church of the Redeemer, we established the Rev. J. Hamilton Gillespie Legacy Society to honor their generosity and sacrifice. Members of the Society have established and sustained many of our most vital ministries, including: making significant capital improvements to our plant and property, establishing our modest endowment, funding other church plants in the diocese, the design and installation of our magnificent pipe organ, providing numerous grants for missions and outreach, and many more.

Become a member of the Rev. J. Hamilton Gillespie Legacy Society by including Church of the Redeemer in your estate plans. With the benefits of charitable giving as strong today as ever, now is the opportune time to explore ways to maximize your assets for you and your family while also providing a lasting legacy for the work of the parish.  Contact Mr. Jason Hughes, CFP, Chairman of the Planned Giving Committee, at 941-416-1381, Fr. Charleston Wilson, Priest Associate for Evangelism and Parish Development, or speak with your estate planning professional for more information.
