Special Occasions

The Church of the Redeemer provides the spiritual framework and physical setting for the most important events and special occasions in our parishioners’ lives.

Baptism

The Sacrament of Baptism is at the foundation of life at the Church of the Redeemer.  According to The Book of Common Prayer, “Holy Baptism is full initiation by water and the Holy Spirit into Christ’s Body the Church.”  Holy Baptism is customarily administered on the First Sunday after the Epiphany, at Easter Vigil, on the Feast of Pentecost, and on All Saints' Day (or the following Sunday).  Active participation in the life of the Christian community is expected of all candidates and sponsors.

Funerals for communicants of the parish are customarily Requiem Eucharists in the church. Many parishioners wish to have their ashes interred in our St. Francis Memorial Garden and have their names inscribed on the St. Francis Memorial Wall.

Holy Matrimony

The Church of the Redeemer offers a special and beautiful setting for the sacrament of Holy Matrimony.  Holy Matrimony is celebrated in the Church for communicant members of the parish who are regular in attendance and support of the Church. A ninety-day notice is required. Advent and Lent are not appropriate for weddings.
