Families with Children

Families with Children is a group for parents with children in fifth grade or younger, intended to build community and have fun.  The group plans all different kinds of events for casual evenings out with just the parents to group activities for adults and children.  Connect with this enthusiastic group on Facebook –  just search “Families with Children (FWC)- Redeemer.”

Children’s Activities
Realizing that children are the future of the church, Redeemer has provided myriad ways in which the children of the parish and their families can be involved in parish life to the fullest! If you would like more information on how your child can participate, call Jacki Boedecker, Director of Children’s Christian Formation, at 941-955-4263. All staff and volunteers who work with children and youth at Redeemer have been screened and have completed “Safeguarding God’s Children” training.

An example of the fun and education activities Redeemer offers is found in our summer 2011 “Faces of Jesus” stained art project. Click here to see the fantastic photos!

Children’s Chapel:  Held Sundays during the 9:00 am Eucharist, the children leave for the Gillespie Hall chapel after the reading of the Gospel, and return following the Peace. Included is a retelling of the Gospel, age appropriate homily, Creed, Prayers of the People, confession, absolution, and the Peace.

Nurseries and Preschool classes:  Redeemer is blessed to have an infant and toddler nursery, a nursery for two and three-year-olds, and a preschool class for four-year-olds. The nurseries are open every Sunday during the 9 and 11 am Eucharists. The preschool class is open during the 9 am service during the academic year. While there is professional staff in both the nurseries, they depend on a great deal of volunteer help. The preschool class is entirely staffed by trained volunteers. Beepers are available to parents to keep in constant contact with little ones. Redeemer’s nurseries are specifically “well baby” spaces.

Sunday School:  Classes take place throughout the academic year for all children from 10:10 to 10:45 am on Sunday mornings. Grades K-3 meet in the church school wing (beside the Bell Tower), and grades 4 and 5 meet in the classrooms above Gillespie Hall. Teachers are always needed.
