Men of Redeemer

Take Your Place

Brotherhood, Faith, and Service
The Men of Redeemer ministry is a great way for men to build lasting relationships with their brothers in Christ and support the church. It’s one of the strongest men’s ministries in the country, with events throughout the year.

Be a Leader
As a parishioner, you’re already part of Men of Redeemer. If you would like to know more about being part of the leadership team, contact the parish office or fill out a Men of Redeemer contact card, which is available in the narthex and parish office.

“As Iron Sharpens Iron, One Man Sharpens Another.” —Proverbs 27:17

Men of Redeemer provides time, talent, and treasure to support multiple ministries and outreach programs:
-Alta Vista Back-to-School Bash: Providing financial support and manpower for underserved children with back-to-school needs at annual event)
-Disaster relief funding for families and individuals in need
-Behold The Man – Holy Pilgrimages to Holy Places (Holy Land & St. Paul’s Greece): Financial donation for Jeff Kern Scholarship to send men and priests on holy pilgrimages
-Downtown community Thanksgiving luncheon: Celebrating 25 years of support in 2025 (serving families and individuals as annual event co-sponsor and financial supporter). Interested in helping with this event on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving? Please contact parishioner Todd Menke at wtmenke@gmail.com.
-Stations of the Cross Main Street Pilgrimage (annual event sponsor and financial supporter to celebrate Good Friday in our community)
-Annual community outreach service projects, such as the Dominican Republic construction outreach trips, Meal on Wheels of Sarasota projects, service at Resurrection House (selected by Leadership Team to contribute financial support and service days)

Steak Night
Steak Night, which celebrates its 28th year in 2026, is the signature event for Men of Redeemer. Held in October or November with catering by Morton’s Gourmet Market, this men’s fellowship event always includes an inspirational speaker and a steak with all the fixins’ plus a Klondike Bar, a Redeemer tradition! Some of the men who have shared their faith message at our Annual Steak Night include NFL head coach Tony Dungy; professional baseball player and two-time World Series champion Darryl Strawberry; high wire legend and author Nik Wallenda; Super Bowl and National College Football Champion Tim Johnson; and Episcopal Diocese of Southwest Florida Bishop Doug Scharf. (Click on the names of the speakers to watch recordings of their Steak Night talks.)

Golf Tournament
Men of Redeemer’s Golf Tournament, held next in spring 2027 (April or May), is the only fundraising event for Men of Redeemer. The Golf Tournament is a Redeemer tradition that attracts men and women who want to come out and play golf but also help support the many programs and outreach opportunities MOR produces and contributes to every year. Henry Paul and Bill Brush have led this fun event for many years. Whether you are a golfer or a duffer, you are guaranteed a great time with lunch, laughs, prizes, and a chance to win the Jeff Kern Cup.

Connect with the Leadership Team
Led by Craig Burness, the Leadership Team is a group of men who gather monthly to help plan, organize, and lead MOR programming and support efforts. If you would like more information, please contact Craig Burness at Craig.Burness@Gmail.com or 858-414-0459.
