Location

Church of the Redeemer is located at 222 S. Palm Ave. in downtown Sarasota, Florida, along the Sarasota Bayfront. The church is at the intersection of Palm Avenue and Ringling Boulevard.

Where to Park

There is plenty of free, convenient parking! Every Sunday, we reserve two parking spots for visitors right in front of the church on Gulfstream Avenue. Look for the cones that say visitor parking. If the visitor spots are taken, you can find public parking on the streets surrounding Redeemer, including on Palm Avenue, Gulfstream Avenue, and Ringling Boulevard. The parish owns a parking lot at the corner of Ringling Boulevard and Palm Avenue, diagonal from the church campus. This parking lot is available for church parking on Saturdays and Sundays. Look for the “Redeemer Church Parking” signs. Redeemer also offers complimentary valet parking on Sundays from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Look for the valet stand on Palm Avenue at the covered entrance to Gillespie Hall.

Length of Services

Church services on Saturdays and Sundays at Redeemer last just over an hour. After most services, we host a coffee hour in Gillespie Hall, the church’s parish hall. Gillespie Hall is right off the main courtyard with the large oak tree. Visitors are invited to attend coffee hour. We encourage you to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and chat with parishioners!

Classes and Events

On most Sundays, there are several classes and events for parishioners. Visitors are welcome to attend our adult faith formation classes, typically held between the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. masses (from about 10:10-10:40 a.m.) in Gillespie Hall and Goewey Hall. Gillespie Hall is the church’s parish hall adjacent to the church building. Goewey Hall is on the third floor of the Robinson Center, the building adjacent to Gulfstream Avenue. To reach Goewey Hall, you can take the staircase or elevator near the entrance to the parish office. Throughout the year, we have special events between the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. masses for parishioners and visitors. These include gatherings to make sandwiches for the hungry, a Veterans Day celebration, an Advent wreath-making event, and more.

Attire

All visitors are encouraged to wear what they feel comfortable in! Women generally wear a dress, a skirt with a blouse, or a pair of pants with a blouse to services at Redeemer. Men generally wear a button-down shirt with slacks. Some men wear blazers or suits to services.

Welcome Table

Visitors are invited to stop by the welcome table in front of the church on Sunday mornings. Our welcome team volunteers are happy to answer any questions. You can also pick up a welcome bag at the table that includes more information about Redeemer, including our latest newsletter and a snack. You’ll also find a red welcome cart on the veranda next to Gillespie Hall on Sundays. Members of our welcome team can be found at the cart every Sunday. These volunteers are happy to answer your questions, too!

Children

Children are welcome at all services at Redeemer! Redeemer offers nursery care for infants through 4-year-old children on Sundays during the 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. masses. Activity bags for young children are available in the narthex.

Children’s Chapel is held on Sundays during the 9 a.m. mass. Children in kindergarten through 5th grade leave for Children’s Chapel after the Gospel and return to their families after The Peace.

Sunday School classes are held throughout the academic year for 4-year-olds through high schoolers on Sundays from 10-10:40 a.m. Classes meet on the second floor of the Robinson Center and in the Babcock Youth Center. Sunday School is offered in Spanish during the Sunday at 1 p.m. mass.
