Special upcoming events: Deacon David Svihel’s ordination is Thursday, August 12, from 6-7:30 p.m. Finally, we are able to celebrate our new rector at A Celebration of New Ministry: The Institution and Induction of Our Eleventh Rector, the Rev’d Charleston David Wilson, on Thursday, September 16, from 6-7:30 p.m. We hope to see our Redeemer family at these wonderful upcoming events.

Results of the Bishop Coadjutor Search Survey: On Saturday, August 7, at 10 a.m., St. Wilfred’s Episcopal Church (3773 Wilkinson Road in Sarasota) will host a listening and sharing session about the bishop coadjutor survey for Manasota area churches. Members from the search committee will be present to share survey results, record conversations, and answer questions. If you won’t be in town that week, there will be two options for listening sessions via Zoom — Tuesday, August 3, and Thursday, August 5, both at 7 p.m. There will also be a session at Redeemer in Spanish on August 8. Registration for all sessions was required by August 1.

The Saturday Night Contemporary Mass with anointing has resumed on the first Saturday of every month. After receiving communion, you may be anointed in the chapel by a member of the clergy. If you would like, you may also be joined in prayer by members of the Order of St. Luke. The next Saturday this will be offered is August 7.

Watch and discuss The Chosen: Parishioners and friends are invited to gatherings to watch the television show about Jesus called The Chosen on Friday mornings at Redeemer in Goewey Hall from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. A discussion of the episode will follow. The Fine Arts Book Club welcomes anyone with an interest in visual and performing arts. The first meeting is Tuesday, September 21, from 6:30-8 p.m. The group will discuss Magician of the Modern: Chick Austin and the Transformation of the Arts in America by Eugene R. Gaddis. Chick Austin donated “The Holy Family” by Peter Paul Rubens to Church of the Redeemer and was director of the Ringling Museum of Art and much more! Share your story writing and speaking workshop: Join editor and publisher Liz Coursen as she shares tips about how to tell your story comfortably and naturally. Take Lemons – Make Lemonade is a fun and interactive writing and speaking workshop at Redeemer on Saturday, September 18, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. The workshop will give you the tools you need to tell your story to give God the glory. Coursen has attended Redeemer since 1976 and is the author of 14 books. The event is $10 per person, which includes a light lunch. Register online by clicking here.
